Criteria for affiliated faculty status

To be listed as an 'affiliated faculty member' of the NU Linguistics Department, an individual faculty member from another NU department:

1. has linguistic interests and is active in research related to linguistics (broadly construed), and
2. agrees to be listed as an affiliated faculty member, and
3. has significant interactions with the Linguistics Department. Examples of such interactions include:
   • advising Linguistics students on doctoral dissertations, qualifying papers, honors theses or MA theses
   • serving on Linguistics Department search committees
   • cooperating with a Linguistics Department member on grant-related activities
   • team-teaching with a faculty member of the Linguistics Department
   • attending Linguistics Department activities such as colloquium talks and discussion groups

Affiliation status will not involve any responsibilities beyond these. For each affiliated faculty member, affiliation status will be reviewed every five years by the Linguistics Department.
